Teachers on Facebook: yes or no?
I had the opportunity to think together with another friend, also a teacher. His bafflement about Facebook was not born on the specific characteristics of the instrument itself, but use it to make some of his colleagues, guilty in his opinion, to get to ape their students. I do not want to put to investigate the matter, because I would have no title or information to do so. Compared with the teachers who decide not to open a profile not in sensitive situations in relation to their students and I imagine that those who decide instead to do it are motivated by good intentions. I would rather make my statement to my husband, who commented as follows: since Facebook, which is also used by both guys, I think that teachers should be teachers and continue to be there too, offering a style that "different" (where having a different means other than the hit and run, free from the stupid, dall'accontentiamoci of superficiality , just to be there). Also a profile on Facebook and its use may be a way to set an example.
Articles alarmed and alarming when you highlight the destructive potential of social networking make me laugh frankly. And I wonder: the ability to judge people where is? It 'been sucked into cyberspace? Or never existed? If a technology is able to control myself I do not think the problem lies in the technology, if anything, in my weakness. The real trouble with boys is not the Internet, is the fact that you have in front of him or not young adults and adults really, credible witnesses to a way of being interesting, beautiful, satisfying, people walking with pros and cons, aware of their and limits of its resources and constantly strive to improve themselves and the rest of the world, even through Facebook.
